About OCCRA
The On-Call Community Rescue for Animals (OCCRA) is a dedicated non-profit organization based in Oregon City, primarily focused on assisting first responders and citizens with the aid and transport of animals in emergencies. Their mission is to improve city services, save time and money for local residents and emergency responders, and help less fortunate animals through safe handling and transport​​.
OCCRA offers a range of services, including responding to sick or injured contained stray animals, assisting with injured wildlife, and helping in the transport of rehomed farm animals. They have a contract with Multnomah County Animal Services to respond to emergencies involving stray domestic animals outside of normal business hours, and they also assist with wildlife emergencies in case-by-case scenarios​​.
The organization invites community involvement through volunteer work and contractor positions. Volunteers are integral to OCCRA’s operations, helping capture and transport animals, especially wildlife. They also seek contractors to work as after-hours emergency animal control in Multnomah County. Additionally, they rely on donations to equip new volunteers with safety gear and uniforms and to fund larger goals like purchasing a livestock trailer and high-quality wildlife transport boxes​​​​.
What We Did
OCCRA was running a website through FlipCause (who in turn were using Weebly) and the content was very static, leaving no reason for repeat visitors. The Donation call to actions were limited and limiting online donations.
We turned the website into a Donation Driven Website by,
- revamping the site structure making it easy to navigate for the visitor,
- re-designed the whole site, making the homepage more dynamic displaying latest posts
- added on-page SEO to improve search engine optimisation
- integrated the FundraiseUp Donation Engine to the site to increase online donations
- added Newsletter sign up to increase email subscribers

We really loved the look of one of our rescue partners, Heartwood Haven Animal Sanctuary’s website. We reached out to them to ask “Who did your new website?!!? It’s so awesome!” They happily referred and connected us to Sanctuary Websites.
I can’t say enough great things about our experience with Dave over the last year. All of us coming from a non-tech savvy place, and having little knowledge in this field, Dave made everything make sense, made it exciting, and easy.
He worked with us on our strange timeline, and budget “predictions”, and the pricing was less than what we were paying at our last platform. So less money, major upgrade, and our website is now more user friendly, eye-catching, and tells the story of our organization in a way that makes us very proud every time we look at it! Every zoom meeting we had was quick, understandable and clear, and with exciting momentum while Dave and his team were building the new site. And still now with it being live, every tiny little or big “request” we make to add something or update something is responded to by Dave and his team within a day or two max.
It’s truly refreshing to have the support they offer. And to be in such great hands and know we are on top of the game in the website department! A BIG deal in the NPO world!
